Jiribam, August 14 2021:
The Thadou Students Association, Jiribam & Tamenglong (TSA) Branch has condemned the transfer of a local teacher, M Romeo Singh from Jiribam Higher Secondary School in Jiribam district.
M Romeo Singh was transferred from Jiribam Higher Secondary School to Ukhrul Higher Secondary School as per an order issued on August 4 by the Education (S) Joint Commissioner, Manipur Government, said TSA Jiribam & Tamenglong branch president, Seijalen Sitlhou in a press conference.
He mentioned that the frequent transfer of teachers from Jiribam district without any replacement has drastically reduced the number of teachers in the district while adding that the transfer of M Romeo Singh from Jiribam Higher Secondary School is irresponsible when the number of teachers in Jiribam is already insufficient.
He also expressed his anguish over the biased and ill treatment given to the people of Jiribam in the education sector and urged the Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
Seijalen Sitlhou further cautioned that the CSOs and people of Jiribam are prepared to intensify their agitation including a National Highway 37 bandh if the transfer order issued on August 4 by the Education (S) Joint Commissioner is not revoked/cancelled by the concerned authority.
The press conference was also attended by TSA Jiribam & Tamenglong Branch finance secretary, Satsong Tryte.
It may be mentioned that other CSOs including Manipuri Students Federation, MSF District Committee Jiribam, Women Association for Socio Economic Development, WASED and Kuki Students Organisation, Kuki Students' Organisation Jiribam & Tamenglong district (KSO J&T) had also expressed their reservations against the transfer order and urged the Government to stay the order.
