Imphal, June 14 2011: Zeliangrong Students' Union, Longmai Area (ZSULA) has refuted the allegation made by transporters through media that extortion from vehicles, particularly the goods laden trucks is taking place openly along NH-53 in Longmai (Noney) area by UGs, reports our Jiribam correspondent.

The Union has asserted that the trucks carrying goods along NH-53 are being escorted by security personnel all the time.

So there is no question of being extorted.

The Union claimed that it has been striving hard to remove the menace of extortion along the NH53 in general and Noney area in particular.

It has also appealed to the transporters to contact the Union for necessary assistance in case of any extortion.
