Imphal, March 14 2016: Auto-rickshaw drivers operating along Imphal-Irilbung route suspended the day's business and staged a protest demonstration at Irilbung today against brutal assault of a fellow driver.

T Sanaton (25) of Irilbung Machahal was transporting some students to a tuition centre when he was halted by two individuals who came out from an oil-pump currently under construction at Kongba Lairenpat at around 5 pm of March 11 .

Sanaton told the two individuals to wait for another passenger vehicle as he was taking some students to a tuition centre but the duo mercilessly assaulted Sanaton apart from twisting his hand.

The protesters urged the authority concerned to pull up and punish the assailants according to the law at the earliest.
