Bishnupur, September 13 2024:
Manipur Chanura Lamjing Lup (MACHAL) has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the inaction of both Central and State Government in view of their failure to bring peace as well as silence in the face of drone and rocket attacks by suspected Kuki militants which is against international law.
Moirangthem Nirmala, co-convenor, MACHAL made the statement during a press conference held late last night.
Addressing the media persons, the MACHAL coconvenor said that there is no sign that the India Government is trying to resolve the protracted conflict which is entering its 17th month.
At this juncture it is important ask the Centre if they consider Manipur as a part of India or not, she maintained.
Meanwhile, the student community who should be focusing on their education, are protesting against the disturbances to the education sector caused by the conflict.
Despite such numerous protests and the submission of numerous memoranda from different quarters, both the Central and State Government continue to maintain their silence, said the MACHAL co-convenor in discontent.
Thus, on behalf of MACHAL, Moirangthem Nirmala urged the people to form a united front instead of launching scattered protests.
"Let us awaken the sleeping Government with the united voice of the people", she appealed.
She assured that MACHAL is prepared to offer any form of cooperation to help build a united front and bring a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
The press conference was also attended by many notable members of MACHAL.
