Ukhrul ADC celebrates completion of one year

Ukhrul, July 13 2016:
Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) today celebrated completion of one year.
Two INC Members missed the celebration today at DRDA conference hall, Mini Secretariat, Ukhrul.
UADC Chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung highlighted the works and achievements of the ADC in one year under his leadership.
In the last ADC election in Ukhrul, NPF won 17 seats, BJP won 1, INC won 2 while four are Independent candidates.
Presently, the NPF is forming the UADC with the support of two Independent Members.
After the ADC assumed office, the functioning of the Council was shifted from Imphal to their respective districts for smooth governance and functioning.
Under the leadership of Dr Yaronsho Ngalung, UADC Members have unanimously resolved to support the 'Framework Agreement' signed on Aug 3, 2015 between GOI and NSCN-IM.
Dr Ngalung said that 5 ADC schools have been upgraded to junior high schools, 8 barrack type quarters have been constructed while 13 such quarters are to be constructed in the near future.
Under the 3rd State Finance Commission, more than 25 schools were repaired, 100 solar street lamps were distributed, he said.
He also said that for ensuring teachers' attendance, biometrics system would be improvised into GPS tracking system at the earliest.
Stressing on the developmental programme under the 3rd State Finance Commission 2015-16 through BADP, Rs 223 lakh has been released for border area development while under MSDP Rs 245.8 lakh has been sanctioned.
Dr Yaronsho also slammed CM Ibobi for allegedly perturbing the ongoing ADC office complex construction of Ukhrul, in spite of his assurance in the floor of the House that ADC office complex would be completed in 2015 .
He expressed dismay on* running office in a temporary arrangement which has created a lot of inconveniences to the Councillors as well as the public.
The Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Modak Hrisheekesh Arvind who attended the UADC celebration said that working together with elected Councillors was a great learning experience.
Although the district administration and the ADC have their own sphere of power and functions, some case of dependency of each other arise especially in developmental project.
He also said that misunderstanding might evolve because of the differences in the opinion but it has to be resolved and they should cooperate each other to run the office.
DC extended thanks to the Councillors for bridging the gap between district administration and the public and strengthening the relationship.
He also mentioned that through Councillors the message of district administrator could be conveyed and reached out to all the common people to sort out any issue or problems.
DIG 10 Sector AR Sandeep Mohala also attended the programme.
The Assam Rifle would extend cooperation in bringing development and also in ushering peace and prosperity in coordination with the district administration, UADC and all stakeholders in days come, he said.
