MEELAL announces online teaching

Imphal, June 13 2019: With a view to promote Meetei Mayek and Manipuri language, MEELAL has announced a new initiative of teaching Meetei Mayek and Manipuri language online.

Speaking to media persons at their Kanglapat office this afternoon, MEELAL assistant general secretary Huirem George (Loikhomba) said that MEELAL has tied up with an Imphal based firm Hillsland Education to teach Manipuri language (Meetei Mayek) online based on the syllabi/curricula prescribed by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM) from Classes VI to X .

To make online learning of Manipuri language (Meetei Mayek) accessible at any part of the world, Hillsland Education would upload a mobile app 'itute learning' to Google Play Store which the firm has already developed, George said.

Meitei/Meetei is one among the many communities of the world who have their own language and alphabets and it is the lingua franca of all the communities settled in Manipur, he remarked.

The mobile app 'itute' can be downloaded free of cost but Rs 500 would be charged for teaching Manipuri subjects prescribed by BoSEM from Classes VI to X through the same app.

The same initiative would be expanded to cover Manipuri subjects taught in Classes XI and XII in the second phase, George added.
