In connection with Manipur University incident wherein Singjamei police allegedly thrashed DESAM volunteers brutally, the student body today demanded the authority concerned to take up stern action against the involved police personnel within December 15 .
Speaking to mediapersons at DESAM office located at Keisampat, DESAM general secretary N Edison Meitei said 7 volunteers of DESAM including its president were brutally thrashed by a police team.
Such act which violated the human rights is commendable by student community.
He added that the Deputy Chief Minister has assured to investigate the incident, submit a report by November 30 and take up befitting action against the involved police personnel.
It has been reported that an enquiry team led by the DIG had already submitted a report.
However, the State Government has failed to comment on the matter till date.
Therefore, the State Government should take up strict against the involved police personnel within December 15 or else the student body would be compelled to resort to rigorous agitation, he added.
