Kangpokpi, February 12 2016 :
Kuki Students' Organization (GHQ) and All Naga Students' Asso-ciation, Manipur (ANSAM) today announced resumption of its suspended indefinite National Highways bandh from February 17 midnight.
The decision to resume the stir was taken in a joint meeting held at Imphal today.
In a joint press release, the two organizations said that they were compelled to re-sume the stir as the State Government has failed to translate its promises into action.
It was an insult and mockery on the part of Government of Manipur to make various assurances to redress the long pending issues, it said adding that it is very much unwise and injustice on the part of the Manipur Government for the apathy and lukewarm attitudes shown towards regula- rization of the hills school contract basis teachers 2006 batch.
The student bodies said that the National Highways bandh was temporarily suspended after the Government assured them to redress the long pending issues within 10 days in a meeting held at the office chamber of Education Minister in the presence of IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip and other Government officials on February 1 .
However, till today no positive action has been taken up, it added.
The indefinite National Highways bandh would not affect inter- district transport system particularly the transport service from the respective districts to Imphal via Imphal to respective districts.
However, trucks and inter-state passenger buses laden with goods would be blocked, it said.
