Thoubal, September 11 2024:
Denouncing the pelting of stones on an ambulance belonging to District Hospital Thoubal and causing injury to the driver during the students' protest on September 9, Chief Medical Officer Thoubal Dr Y Nokul has strongly appealed against a repetition of such unfortunate incidents.
On the fateful day, the ambulance reportedly was attempting to transport wounded individuals when it was pelted with stones in front of Thoubal SP office.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Thoubal CMO office today, Dr Y Nokul continued to say that the solitary Advanced Life Support Ambulance of the hospital has consistently proved to be extremely useful during the conflict situation while adding that any time someone was hurt during the violence, the ambulance drivers have considered it their duty to drive to the site and help the wounded persons.
As it is the purpose of ambulances to transport wounded persons, on September 9 the ambulance made its way to the Thoubal SP office and was leaving after loading up the wounded persons when the protestors allegedly threw stones at the vehicle and damaged important equipments inside it, claimed the CMO.
Notably, he also clarified that though the faces of the stone pelters could not be seen properly, none of them were students.
Stating that an FIR has been lodged with the concerned police station in this connection, he further appealed for level-headedness and rationality from the public to ensure that such impetuous actions are not repeated.
The press briefing was also attended by Dr W Ruhinikumar, Superintendent, District Hospital Thoubal and other staff of the hospital.
