'Don't give BJP ticket to Govindas else we will resign'

Imphal, August 11 2021: More than 60 BJP Karyakartas of Nachou village under Bishnupur Assembly Constituency have resolved that if the BJP ticket is given to Govindas Konthoujam, who recently joined the saffron party after deserting the Congress, for the coming Assembly elections then all the BJP Karyakartas will resign enmasse from the saffron party.

Notably Govindas Konthoujam had resigned as the president of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, then quit the party and resigned from the Assembly before switching over to the BJP on August 1 at New Delhi in the presence of the Central leaders of the saffron party.

The decision of the Karyakartas was taken during a meeting held on August 8 at Nachou village which was attended by presidents of polling stations 26/13, 26/14, 26/15 and 26/16 .

Adopting a three point resolution, the meeting decided that if the BJP ticket is given to Govindas for the coming Assembly elections, then the presidents, secretaries, executive members and members of the four polling stations will resign from the primary membership of the BJP.

It was also decided that the decision would be forwarded to the State unit BJP president, Chief Minister, BJP district president of Bishnupur and Mandal president of Bishnupur AC. The meeting also resolved to give more strength to the four polling stations and expand its membership.

Boothwise meeting will also be held shortly to discuss the latest development and along this line a meeting of booth number 26/13 was held on August 11.Meetings of the other booths will follow suit.
