Pseudoephedrine tablets seized

Acting on a tip-off, the special joint Ops party consisting of BSF Intelligence wing, Aizawl and CID (SB), Mizoram police apprehended one Philip Colney (39), s/o Lamuana Colney of Chingga Veng, Aizawl on July 10, 2014 from his house with 32 kg of Pseudoephedrine tablets worth Rs 10,88,000 .
A press release issued by the BSF PRO informed that the team found the tablets inside a maroon coloured travel bag wrapped in 19 polythene bags.
BSF spokesperson Satish Budakoti, DIG, Mizoram and Cachar Frontier intimated that the seized Pseudoephedrine tablets were brought from Delhi to Aizawl on road via truck for smuggling to Myanmar.
Pseudoephedrine tablets are in huge demand at Myanmar.
The tablets are processed to extract epedrine which are used in manufacturing Methamphetamine.
Satish Budakoti further informed that the tablets at Aizawl local market is worth only 4 Rs per tablet and the same is sold at Rs 20-25 per tablet at international market.
