ANSAM endorses

The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has endorsed the ongoing agitation of the JAC-AMHDCBTA, 2006 batch in pursuance of their demand for service regularisation.
A good numbers of teachers have been appointed and engaged by the Education (S), Hills, Dept, as per MoU signed between the Govt of Manipur and ATSUM in 2006 to cater to the educational needs of the hill schools.
The MoU clearly stated that the service of the teachers appointed on contract basis will be utilised until the posts are filled up on regular basis through normal recruitment or special drive as the case may be, a statement issued by Wungthing T Leo, information and publicity secretary of ANSAM said.
The appointment and engagement of the contract teachers were made after due advertisement and also obtaining finance memo from FD, Govt of Manipur.
In addition, professional tax was has also been levied on the contract basis teachers, it said.
Further, in 2011, physical verification was conducted by the Directorate of Education (S) for the service extension/regularisation wherein 772 contract teachers were found genuine by the Dept and forwarded the same to the higher authority for necessary action.
However, no concrete development has been seen till date.
Urging the Govt of Manipur to take serious note of the matter, ANSAM also urged the Govt to redress the grievances immediately to avoid undesirable consequences.
The Naga apex students' body further informed the constituent units and subordinate bodies to act in a befitting manner.
