Imphal, September 10 2021:
Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) has appealed to all the concerned to refrain from setting up industries which causes noise pollution in crowded places and localities.
Enumerating the adverse effects of noise emitted from the machines and equipment of the industries concerned, KSA in a press release said that the noise pollution caused by such industries affects the health and mental state of many.
KSA maintained that various industries mainly small scale industries like iron workshop, furniture houses etc have been set up in crowded localities without the concern of the well being of the people around.
The noise emitted from these industries hampers the normal day to day activities of many individuals making them unfit to deliver their duties efficiently, added the statement.
Expressing serious concern over its impacts on the students, KSA said that students of the State who are dependent on online classes ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic have been affected badly by the noise pollution caused by these industries as they are unable to concentrate in their activities and classes.
Not only the students, the teachers who are conducting the online classes are also being affected, continued the statement.
The student body opined that such industries may be the source of livelihood for those few associated with it but the harmful effects of these industries are manifold thereby impacting the lives of many substantially.
KSA further sought the attention of the Government and authorities concerned like Manipur Pollution Control Board to look into the matter and take up necessary measures to streamline such activities.
In view of the above mentioned impacts, the Kangleipak Students Association urged all concerned not to set up industries which causes noise pollution in crowded areas or relocate such industries to some other place in the interest of all.
Further KSA appealed to all to refrain from using loud sound system in the localities without any proper reason.
