Imphal, November 09 2024: Unknown persons shot and injured Dr Moirangthem Dhanabir, managing director of Diabetes Healthcare Research Centre, Porompat this evening.

The incident happened at around 5.30 pm.

Sources said 2-3 unknown persons came to the hospital at Porompat and met with Dr Dhanabir.

Sometime later, one of the unknown persons shot and injured Dr Dhanabir on his left arm.

After shooting Dr Dhanabir, they fired several rounds of bullets at an Ambulance vehicle.

The unknown persons fired three bullets on the right side of the vehicle and one on the left side.

Dr Dhanabir has been rushed to JNIMS and is receiving treatment, said sources.
