UNMM highlights villagers' plights

A team of United NGOs Mission-Manipur (UNM-M) and Northeast Border Area Development Organization (NEBADO) has conducted a 2 day visit cum fact finding mission to Nambashi Village under Kasom Khullen Sub-Division, Ukhrul District, and its surrounding villages from Nov 6 to 7.The team during its visit to the area focused on the worst and pathetic condition of road and its impact to the general public of Kasom Khullen Sub-Division.
According to a statement issued by UNM-M, the condition of road is most horrible due allegedly to apathy of the concerned authority.
During the visit, team members came across the various problems of of the people of the area in Health, Education and other social issues etc.
The team members reached out and interacted with villagers and elders of Hengbong, Kasom, Nambashi, Bungtung etc.
and discussed the problems, challenges and other grievances of the said villages.
Kasom Khullen sub-division has many resources agricultural produces including rice, bean, pumpkin, other vegetables, Horticultural produces like orange, Yongchak, etc and livestock.
But due to bad road connectivity all the produces remained useless and unproductive.
The road condition of Imphal-Kasom Khullen- Nambashi (Inter-district cum State highway) is pitiable.
The stretch from Chandrakhong to Kasom Khullen (37 Kms) and Kasom Khullen to Nambashi (20 Km) were in its worst and deplorable condition.
Highlighting the various disadvantages of the people of the area in the fields of health care, education, power supply and others, besides bad road connectivity, the UNM-M statement strongly urged the concerned authority to repair the road immediately before the coming Christmas.
It also urged the authority concerned to ensure power supply to the area and to provide adequate doctors and staff at health centres of the area.
It further demanded that adequate teachers be provided to schools to ensure better future of the students.
