NKL, Jiribam denounces failure of State Govt in solving district boundary dispute

Jiribam, August 09 2019:
Chairman of Ngamkhei Kanba Lup, Jirbam W Dinesh Meetei has denounced the failure of the State Government in solving the district boundary dispute between Jiribam and Tamenglong.
He was speaking at a press meet organised at the conference hall of Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL) today.
He continued that the Lup had repeatedly appealed and submitted memorandum to the authorities concerned seeking solution on the prevailing issue.
Dinesh further maintained that the Lup decided to cool of as some sort of negotiation was brought with the State Government.
However, the matter has been deferred from time to time by coming to negotiations and agreements without actually taking up a concrete action, he added.
On the other hand, he asserted that the 78 hour bandh called by Tamenglong, will impact the people of Jiribam district.
Maintaining that different CSOs have been working tirelessly so as to ensure solution on the boundary dispute, Dinesh urged the State Government to take prompt action and bring the issue to an end.
Meanwhile, Chairman, Ngamkhei Kanba Lup S Susila asserted that the boundary dispute has stirred up the friendly relationship between the people of the hills and the district.
The Lup expressed its desire to straighten out the matter by holding a conference with the representatives of Tamenglong and the State Government.
Co-convenor of the Lup Y Ibomcha warned that stringent agitations will be taken up if the authorities concerned fail to agree to the demands and appeals of the Lup.
On the other hand, the Lup has strongly condemned the death of N Babysana and further urged the authorities concerned to book the culprits and deliver swift justice for Babysana.
