Imphal, April 09 2012:
Asserting that the 'freedom movement' in the land should be looked beyond the mere ambit of the armed movement, the United Revolutionary Front has stated that the struggle should be taken on all the turf, the primary one being on the economic front.
In a statement issued to the press today, the outfit stated that the time has come to wrest back the market from the outsiders and take it under the control of the indigenous people.
To realise this point, stress should be laid on the productivity of the land and bring about such a situation that the indigenous people need not depend on the goods brought in from outside.
Elaborating URF said that entrepreneurs, private companies, small scale industries, handloom and handicraft should imbibe the modern knowledge and complement them with the traditional know how to beat the dependency syndrome of the people.
Prime importance should be laid on farming activities including agriculture and horticulture as well as fishery, said URF and added that scientific and modern technology should be imbibed to promote the handloom sector.
The right direction and guidance ought to be provided to the numerous Self Help Groups which have sprung up all over the place, it said and added that the time has come to wrest the market from the outsiders.
There is also the growing need to instil work culture amongst the people, it added.
The battle or war with India has to be won, asserted the outfit and added that the people and the land cannot accept the economic packages or autonomy like in Mizoram and Nagaland.
India is no doubt a powerful country, said URF but added that it should not forgotten that it too has its weaknesses and it is the weaknesses that should be exploited.
There is nothing in common between the indigenous people of the land and India, said URF and added that it is to keep the people under siege that Delhi has been deploying more and more of her troops down the years.
How can anyone justify the deployment of such a huge number of troops in an undeclared war, questioned the outfit.
This itself shows that India is hell bent on asserting its grip on the land and the people.
