Imphal, August 08 2015 :
If the peace accord signed between Gov-ernment of India and NSCN-IM infringes upon the territorial integrity of Manipur, BJP which is in power at the Centre and their State unit should be held accountable, said JD-U Manipur unit president M Tombi.
Speaking to media persons at their party office today, Tombi said that JD-U welcomed the peace accord signed between NSCN-IM and the Government of India but BJP should be held responsible if it infringes upon the territorial integrity of Manipur.
People of Manipur are quite inquisitive about the details of the accord.
Tombi questioned the motive behind keeping the details of the accord a closely guarded secret.
BJP should act in transparent manner with a sense of responsibility in order to neutralise the growing suspicion among the masses.
Chief Minister O Ibobi who is currently at Delhi should elicit maximum details about the peace accord from the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
He should bring back a copy of the peace accord and place it before the people of Manipur.
Suspension of police Constables in connection with the killing of Sapam Robinhood in the course of mass agitation for enforcement of ILPS in Manipur while condoning the police office who commanded the Constables lacks sense of fairness, M Tombi remarked.
He went on to ask why the Government is reluctant to take up any action against the police Inspector who dragged a girl student by the hair.
Only women police personnel should be pressed into action when the agitators are girls and women.
Being a democratic country, the Government should identify a place where people can raise voices of grievances and protest over different issues.
To consult party's central leaders on the issue of ILPS and the peace accord, a team of JD-U Manipur unit would be leaving for Delhi soon, Tombi added.
