State Govt targets 1.5 lakh jobs

The biggest or most challenging mission of the BJP-led coalition Government is its declaration of providing a job to each household of the State by 2022, and going by the same declaration, the Government has set a target of creating 1.5 lakh jobs during the current financial year 2017-18 .
A Cabinet meeting held on May 3 last year deliberated on how to translate the ambitious mission of providing one job to each household.
The same Cabinet set up a State Mission on Employment for Each Household by 2022 .
Under this mission, the State Government would endeavour to create 1.5 lakh jobs each year for the next five years starting from 2017-18.The State Government has set a target of generating 7.5 lakh jobs within the stipulated five years, informed a source.
The State Government has already initiated due process to create 1.5 lakh jobs under 17 different departments within the current financial year.
The Government has been working to create 30,000 jobs under RD&PR Department, 10,000 jobs under Agriculture Department, 10,000 jobs under Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department, 10,000 jobs under Sericulture Department, 10,000 jobs under Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department, 30,000 jobs under Commerce and Industries Department, 4000 jobs under Information Technology Department, 3000 jobs under Tourism Department, 5000 jobs under Health Department, 3000 jobs under Education (S), 2000 jobs under Transport, 3000 jobs under Education (U), 5000 jobs under MAHUD, 10,000 jobs under Forest and Environment, 5000 jobs under Fisheries, 500 jobs under Social Welfare and another 5000 jobs under Tribal Affairs and Hills Department.
With a view to start translating the mission into action, the Finance Department has asked departments concerned to prepare action plans/strategies etc.
Notably, the Chief Minister is the chairman of the State Mission on Employment for Each Household by 2022 and the Chief Minister has convened several rounds of meetings to implement the mission successfully, informed the source.
On the other hand, the North Eastern States have been coordinating on certain areas under NITI Ayog with the primary objective of bringing rapid development in the region.
A meeting of high ranking officials of all the North Eastern States was held on December 12 last year at the initiative of NITI Ayog.
The meeting decided that Manipur would coordinate all the North Eastern States in the areas of skill development, entrepreneurship and promotion of sports.
Likewise, all the other North Eastern States were entrusted different responsibilities.
Based on the tasks entrusted to them, each State should submit plan papers to NITI Ayog.
If the plan papers are approved by NITI Ayog, necessary measures to implement the plans should be taken up, added the source.
