Minor girl raped at Lamdeng Khunou

Imphal, December 07 2012: A 50-year-old man is said to have surrendered before Lamshang Police Station after he allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl.

The incident happened at Lamdeng Khunou of Imphal West district at around 4 pm on December 5 .

According to the family of the victim, the girl along with one of her younger sisters were playing near the accused's house that day.

As they felt thirsty, they asked the accused to give some water.

The accused kept the victim inside his house asking the younger sister to go away.

He then bolted the door from inside and raped the minor inside his house.

The girl bit the accused and freed herself from the accused's clutches.

As the girl told her parents about the incident that day itself, the family went to the accused's house to complain about the incident.

As the accused fled his house when they reached there, his wife requested the victim's family to talk over the matter with his husband.

The family also complained the matter to local meira paibees and Councillor.

Even as the accused's family promised to bring the accused before meira paibees and Councillor at 1 pm of December 7, the accused is said to have surrendered before Lamshang Police Station.

Taking serious note of the incident, Young Help Women Organisation Secretary, A Robita said, such incidents are frequently happening in the State.

Maintaining that action would be initiated against the accused, Robita also urged the parents to take care of their children from such devilish elements.
