Murder accused sent to NIA custody

Lunminsei Kipgen, prime suspect in the brutal murder case of four persons including a father-son duo near a water treatment plant at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou on January 18, 2024 has been sent to the custody of NIA.
Lunminsei Kipgen alias Langinmang alias Mang alias Levis (35) s/o Songin of Mamong village, Henglep block, Churachandpur district who is presently lodged in Central Jail Lokhra, Guwahati was produced before the Court of Special Judge, NIA Manipur today through video conferencing.
In compliance with an order of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued on February 2 this year, a case was re-registered by NIA Imphal under different sections of UA(P) Act and Arms Act after an FIR was already registered at Bishnupur police station.
The case relates to the brutal killing of four persons by armed miscreants near a water treatment plant at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou on January 18 at around 3.50 pm.
Special PP NIA further submitted that during the investigation of the case, a video clip of the brutal killing of one person by an armed miscreant, suspected to be Lunminsei was obtained and taken into record.
The Special PP prayed the Court to allow NIA branch office, Guwahati take custody of the accused in their custody for five days for further investigation of the case and to unearth the identities of other accomplices, modus operandi of the criminals and the conspiracy they hatched.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the Special PP, NIA and perusing the case record remanded Lunminsei Kipgen alias Langinmang alias Mang alias Levis in NIA custody till June 11 .
The Court also informed the accused the reason for his arrest and also directed the Chief Investigation Officer of NIA to inform the family members about the arrest of the accused.
Kuki militants, armed with sophisticated weapons, came down from Lamlai Kabui village and sneaked into the water supply plant located in the middle of paddy fields at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou on January 18 and killed four civilians including a father-son duo who were working as caretakers of the water treatment plant .
The victims were identified as Oinam Bamonjao, his son Oinam Manitomba, Thiyam Somendro and Ningthoujam Nabadeep, all from Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou.
