Govt set to inaugurate 116 projects in one go

As part of the 'Inauguration Fortnight' to commemorate the first anniversary of the B JP-led government in the State, Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated Girls and Boys Hostels of 150 capacity each at Khuman Lampak and "Imphal Planetarium" at Manipur Science Centre, Takyelpat, Imphal West on March 5.Speaking at the occasion as chief guest during the inauguration of Girls and Boys Hostels at Khuman Lampak, Chief Minister Biren asserted that each individual/people should become a 'model' for bringing positive change in the State.

He said that President Ramnath Kovind declared Manipur "Sports Capital of India".
Maintaining that quality should be maintained in the National Sports University for producing good sportspersons in the State, the Chief Minister said that we need to study performance of the sportspersons after the functioning of the university.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be visiting the State for the inauguration of the 105th Indian Science Congress to be held at Imphal on March 16.Prime Minister would most likely lay foundation stone for National Sports University in the State.
Around 4000 delegates would be participating in the Congress, he added.
He mentioned that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh would also be visiting the State to attend the first anniversary celebration which falls on March 15.The Home Minister would inaugurate (he Integrated Check Post located at Moreh.
The Government has already identified about 116 projects/schemes to be inaugurated on the occasion of 'Inauguration Fortnight' in the State, he said.
Expressing grief over the death of a youth at Nagamapal recently, the Chief Minister informed that police have analysed the CCTV video footage about the killing and one suspicious of the murder has been identified.
The Police Department is making effort to arrest the suspicious person, he added.
He said that a sweeper was reportedly crushed to death by a car in Singjamei area today early morning.
He assured that the Government would give extra financial help/ex-gratia to the family of the deceased.
Stressing on the negative effects of prolonged celebration of Yaoshang festival in the State, the Chief Minister said that the Government has received huge positive response from the people to lessen the number of days of Yaoshang celebration.
People living in and around Kongba, Thongju, Heingang area have decided to reduce the number of days of Yaoshang celebration to 2-3 days, he added.
He also said that Umang Lai Kanba Lup (UKAL) has taken up steps to refrain from using loud speakers during Lai Haraoba celebration in the State.
Now the people of the State have civic sense and responsibility towards bringing positive change in the State, he added.
He appealed to the people to share their grievances and information to the Government so that we could go a long way forward in the pace of the development.
He said that Manipur a bandh free State following the formation of the BJP-led Government.
Minister for PHE Losii Dikho, MLA O Henry, Secretary to CM N Ashok Kumar, Secretary (YAS) Bobby Waikhom, Director (YAS) N Praveen, officials of Manipur Olympic Association and others attended the function.
Later, on the occasion of inauguration of Imphal Planetarium, CM Biren said that such a digital planetarium which is the first of its kind in the State would provide benefits to the young students of the State in the field of science and technology.
He noted that science is inseparable with humans and we are dependent on science.
There is a need to establish a research institution so that we could study or conduct research on the causes of various diseases like cancer and stone cases among the people of the State, he added.
