Thaninleima, Priyarani awarded

New Delhi, March 07 2012:
Two young female artistes namely S Thaninleima and Ahongshangbam Priyarani Devi were among 33 other young artistes of India awarded for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the year 2010 at a glittering function held at Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg here this evening.
The Chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Leela Samson presented the awards.
Thaninleima received the coveted award in the field of theatre and Priyarani in Manipuri folk music.
Born on February 1, 1974 in Imphal, Sanabam Thaninleima Chanu received her initial training in theatre from Loitongbam Dorendra with whom she worked for eight years till 1997 .
An alumnus of National School of Drama, she obtained PhD Degree in Contemporary Manipuri Theatre with special emphasis on the theatre of Ratan Thiyam from Manipur University.
Born on March 2, 1984 in Manipu, Ahongshangbam Priyarani completed her Dploma in Manipuri dance and Nata-Sankritana from Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal.
