Churachandpur, January 07 2022:
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur has vehemently condemned the sexual assault on a 12-year-old minor girl in a premeditated manner on November 25, 26, 27 .
Detailing the incident, the student body in a release stated that a 12 year old girl from a remote village bordering Churachandpur and Bishnupur District was abducted on November 25th, 2021 at around 4:00 PM on a Bolero.
KSO continued that the girl was allegedly blindfolded and gang-raped.
The rapists then threatened the minor girl that if the matter was disclosed to anyone, she and her family would face the same fate as her mother.
It may be mentioned that her mother too faced unnatural death after being raped in the year 2016.The student body also alleged that after the incident, the victim sought refuge with her boyfriend identified as Haomom Viveshan Singh of Bishnupur district but she was sexually assaulted and passed onto one Serto Resongam Kom of Tuiringphaisen, Churachandpur District who also sexually assaulted her.
The girl after suffering multiple sexual assaults was rescued by Bishnupur Police, Childline Bishnupur & Churachandpur, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bishnupur on November 27th, 2021 from Tuibuong, Churachandpur District.
In this regard, Viveshan Singh and Resongam Kom have been arrested and kept in judicial custody vide FIR No 24(11) 2021 WPS-BPR U/S 365 IPC & 6 POCSO Act registered at Bishnupur Police Station.
"However, the duo who were accused of committing a grave crime of raping minor and arrested on charge of 'kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly or wrongfully confine person and aggravated penetrative sexual assault' have been given bail", it added.
Noting that the impunity enjoyed by rapists who have been rarely punished as one of the major factors for frequent atrocities against women in the State, KSO urged the law enforcing agencies to strictly investigate the case and re-arrest Viveshan Singh and Resongam Kom, book all the other perpetrators involved in the heinous crime under relevant section of the provision of the law and award befitting punishment without delay.
KSO CCPur further cautioned that it would not remain a silent spectator if the Government failed to take prompt and strict action against the perpetrators.
