29th anniversary of Babri Masjid Demolition observed

The 29th anniversary of Babri Masjid Demolition also known as 'Black Day' was observed today at the residence of Zilla Parishad member Najru Islam at Khergao today.
The observance was graced by Najru Islam and Comrade Athokpam Lala, State Secretariat member, Communist part of India (CPI) as the presidium members, said a press statement issued by L Sotinkumar, Secretary, MSC/CPI.
Today's programme was also attended by L Sotinkumar, Comrade Dr M Nara, National Executive member CPI, Comrade Dr Badaruddin, State executive member, CPI, Islauddin, Secretary, Tanjin Insaf and K Shamungou, president of Indian Association of Lawyers Manipur Chapter as resource persons and spoke in length about the Babri Masjid demolition.
The speakers maintained that India is a secular country where one is free to embrace any religion or faith as per their choice and the ideals of secularism are enshrined in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
However it is unfortunate that the influence of some ardent Hindu lovers have led to the demolition of the ancient Babri Masjid which holds a significant place in the lives of the Muslims, added the speakers.
Further they stated that it will only lead to a chaotic state in the country if religion and politics go hand in hand, added the press statement.
The All India Imams Council in a press release also recalled the 'Black Day' and stated that on this day the trust of millions of Independent India was ravaged when the age-old Babri Masjid was demolished in broad daylight.
The Council in a press release elaborated about the history of Babri Masjid and on the subsequent incidents which occurred after the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
Further the Council also expressed gratitude to all who have contributed in maintaining peace and harmony among the believers of different communities in the country.
