Imphal, November 06 2012:
A young girl has been rescued from the hands of a Bihari youth who was allegedly trying to take the girl to Dimapur.
The girl, aged about 13 years, is reading in Class V at Don Bosco School, Churachandpur and the accused has been identified as one Bijoykumar Shah (21) s/o Ram Naresh from Mashali district of Bihar.
He has been living in Manipur for the past five years.
He is presently working as a mechanic in a two-wheeler workshop at New Bazar, Churachandpur.
Bijoykumar led away the girl last Sunday.
Incidentally, both Bijoykumar and the girl's family were staying in rented rooms of a single house though on different floors.
The Bihari youth was trying to take away the girl to Dimapur when he was caught by volunteers of FREINDS and members of Tata Winger Transporters' Association from North AOC this morning.
Speaking to media persons about the incident this afternoon, FREINDS president Sapamcha Jadumani said that the Bihari youth was trying to coax and take away the underaged girl outside Manipur.
He also mentioned about child trafficking cases reported earlier.
He also demanded that police should first check antecedents of immigrants coming to the State including their crime records, if any before letting them stay in the State.
Both the girl and the Bihari youth would be handed over to police, he added.
