World Environment Day observed

Paradise English School, Thoubal Okram collaborated with BEENet and observed the World Environment Day on June 5, 2014. Sponsored by the Manipur Pollution Control Board, the programme was held with Dr NG Bijoy, Chairman, Manipur Pollution Control Board, as the Chief guest and O Landhoni, MLA, Khangabok Constituency Assembly, as the President.
Dr P Kumar, Professor, Manipur University, spoke on the theme, "SIDS in the broader context of climate change".
The programme was attended by around 500 students and plantation of tree saplings were also undertaken.
The Nehru Kendra Thoubal and NSS, Thoubal College, Thoubal, also observed the World Environment Day on June 5, 2014, on the theme, "Raise Your Voice, Not the Sea Level".
Y Laksman Singh, District Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra, thoubal, was the Chief guest and Dr O Chaoba Devi, Principal, Thoubal College, Thoubal, was the President.
Romendro Singh, NSS Programme Officer, thanked the officials and all the participants for attending the programme.
Organisations like the Alliance for Development Alternatives, Manipur (ADAM); Lions Club of Kakching; Kakching Educational Trust; Manipur College NCC team; Students Library Associations (SLA), kakching, also observed the World Environment Day today and undertook the plantation of tree saplings and organised a spot painting competition to create awareness and conserve the environment.
The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, also observed the World Environment Day by udertaking a tree plantation programme at the IBSD Bioresources Park, Haraoru, Imphal today, under the supervision of Dr NC Talukar, Director of the Institute.
