Jiribam (Imphal East), May 06 2015 :
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Special Branch Jiribam and Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) Jiribam Branch has urged the State Government to extend assistance to some schools in Jiribam which were damaged by storm last month.
Upon inspection, Sorok Atingbi Aided High School located at Sorok Atingbi was found to have been damaged and parts of its roof blown away by the devastating storm.
Speaking to reporters at MSF Special Branch Jiribam office, the two students' organisations sought the State Government's immediate intervention to renovate the damaged schools.
Meantime, accusing the State Government of adopting an indifferent attitude towards schools located outside Imphal valley, MSF Special Branch Jiribam and KSA Jiribam Branch said that a BA passed teacher has been assigned as a Principal in-charge in Borokbekra Higher Secondary School.
Expressing shock over the appointment of the BA passed teacher for the said post, the students' organisations questioned how the authority concerned could push aside other teachers who have better educational qualifications and appoint a graduate teacher.
It also said that contract lecturer RK Uttam Devi has been utilised at Lamlong Higher Secondary School following an order issued by Deputy Secretary of Education Department H Manthang.
The two students' organisations demanded the authority concerned for an immediate posting of a Principal in Borokbekra Higher Secondary School and to cancel the order.
MSF Special Branch Jiribam and KSA Jiribam will launch stringent agitation in case the State Government and the authority concerned fail to fulfil the demands at the earliest, it added.
