Nutrition Week observed at Mayang Imphal

Imphal, September 05 2011: The 30th National Nutrition Week was observed today at Mayang Imphal mini stadium under the aegis of the ICDS Project Imphal West II, Wangoi with Manitron Chairman Dr Kh Ratankumar as chief guest.

The main feature of the programme was a discussion session on giving nutritious food to pregnant woman and children between 0-6 years, and the role of Anganwadi workers and helpers in providing nutritious food to pregnant women and infants.

Anganwadi centres based in Langthabal, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Mayang Imphal and Wangoi Assembly constituencies opened four stalls during the programme where nutritious food products were exhibited to the public.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Kh Ratankumar exhorted the Supervisors, Anganwadi workers and helpers to take pro-active roles in feeding newly born kids with nutritious foods so that all children grow up healthy.

The function was also attended by Mayang Imphal Municipal Council Chairperson Th Rajmohon.

Earlier in the day, MLA Ratankumar inaugurated two newly constructed market sheds at Mayang Imphal Konchak.

The two market sheds were constructed with monetary assistance from MDS at the cost of Rs five lakhs.
