NIA nabs absconding wife of KCP (MTF) leader

Imphal, April 05 2017: A woman who was declared an absconder by Special Court, NIA Guwahati on March 28 last year has been arrested by the investigation agency from Takyel Khongbal Mayai Leikai, Imphal West district today.

She has been identified as Naorem Lukamani Devi w/o Priyokumar @ Kesho Meitei of Uchiwa Wangma presently staying at Takyel Khongbal Mayai Leikai.

The arrested woman was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West late in the evening with a prayer for two days transit remand for producing the accused before Special Court, NIA Guwahati on April 7 .

The prayer served under Section 79, 80 and 84 of CrPC was accepted by the Court.

In his submission, Dy SP/CIO NIA, BO Guwahati claimed that the woman who is an accused in a criminal case number RC-03/2011/NIA Guwahati was absconding since a long time.

He stated that a lookout circular was also issued against the accused woman by Intelligence Bureau on April 24 of last year on the basis of the warrant of arrest issued by Special Court, NIA Guwahati.

Registering the case as cril misc case number 60 of 2017, the Court perused the application, the warrant of arrest issued by Special Court NIA Guwahati and the case record. The Court also directed the authority concerned to take medical examination of the accused and treat her according to requirements of the case.

It may be mentioned that the accused's husband Priyokumar @ Kesho Meitei, Commander-in-Chief of the proscribed KCP (Military Task Force) was arrested by NIA from Siliguri, West Bengal in June, 2012 .

A case registered against him has been going on.
