Imphal, December 04 2015 :
Following heated disputes among group of students, the Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) election which was scheduled today has been re-scheduled tomorrow.
According to a press release issued by MUSU election 2015-16 RO, voting will be held between 11 am and 2 pm tomorrow.
Heated disputes ensued among groups of students after a candidate contesting for the post of Games and Sports secretary filed a complaint to the Vice Chancellor alleging that the rival candidate was not fit to contest the election.
The complaint alleged that rival lady candidate studying MCA does not have the requisite attendance.
Acting on the complaint, the VC called the HoD of Computer Science Department but the latter failed to turn up.
Subsequently, the VC suspended the HoD.

On learning about the suspension order, students of Computer Science and other allied departments raised an uproar in front of Social Sciences Department, Old Block demanding that the suspension order pertaining to their HoD be revoked else no MUSU election should be held.
Notably, the block was being arranged to serve as polling booth for the election and polling materials were stored there.
At around 11 am, five candidates and a large number of supporters arrived at the block.
They had heated arguments with the other group of students who were demanding revocation of the HoD's suspension order.
Sometime later, the five candidates and their supporters marched towards the A-Block and raised an uproar there although the uproar was eventually subdued by police.
Notably, two candidates each are contesting for the posts of MUSU president, general secretary, finance secretary, social and cultural secretary and games and sports secretary.
