Imphal, August 04 2015:
The United Committee Manipur has categorically stated that the peace accord signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM should be revoked if it infringes upon the interests of neighbouring States.
Speaking to media persons today, UCM president Johnson Elangbam said that he welcomes the peace accord if its applicability is restricted within the territory of Nagaland.
UCM is fully committed to the integrity of Manipur.
The way the peace accord was signed after bypassing the State Government merits collective introspection.
The State Government should provide full details of the peace accord to the people of Manipur, Johnson demanded.
The Prime Minister and the Home Minister of India should table the full text of the accord at the Parliament during the ongoing session.
There should not be division of administration on ethnic lines.
It would be a disaster if the peace accord affects the neighbouring States rather than confining it within the State of Nagaland.
It would be a big political blunder on the part of the BJP Government as it would unfailingly invite a massive second uprising, Johnson said.
