TUC lines up mass sit in against FA

Thangmeiband United Club will be organising a mass sit in protest at Thangmeiband opposite DM College western gate, on December 7, to extend support to the civil society organisations and All Political Party delegates heading to Delhi regarding the Framework Agreement signed between the Central Government and the NSCN (IM).Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Pratap Leishangthem, vice president of Thangmeiband United Club stated that recently the President of India, in his speech at the Hornbill Festival at Nagaland, highlighted the Framework Agreement and stated that a Naga solution will be reached soon.Looking into such a statement coming from the President of the country, the people are getting apprehensive regarding the Framework Agreement and are not able to remain silent.He claimed that the people of the State as well as Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have been apprehensive about the content of the FA as they do not know if it will harm the territorial integrity of the States concerned.Stating that on numerous occasion, the Central as well as the State Government have assured that there are no such things in the agreement which will harm the territorial integrity of the State, Pratap asked why the Central Government is not disclosing the details of the FA if it does not contain anything against the interest of the people of Manipur as well as other States.
Pledging support for the CSOs and the All Political Party delegates heading to Delhi regarding the issue, he said that Thangmeiband United Club will be organising a mass sit in protest at Thangmeiband opposite DM College Western gate , from 10 am to 3 pm of December 7.Pratap further appealed to the people from all sections of the society to participate in the sit in protest which will also be participated by members of various political parties, CSOs and clubs.
All the shops, business establishments and Government offices located in Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency will remain closed during the sit in protest, he added.
