Imphal, November 03 2019: Bishnupur district commandos arrested a 52 year old man along with 6 Kilograms of opium yesterday evening, from Tronglaobi Maning Leikai.

According to a reliable source, a team of Bishnupur commandos, upon getting information regarding movement of drugs peddlers in and around Tronglaobi Maning Leikai area, launched a frisking and checking operation at the said area under the supervision of the Bishnupur Superintendent of Police.

During the frisking exercise, one suspicious individual was detained for verification.

He was identified as one Tonglun Kipgen (52) s/o (L) Thangkhohen Kipgen of Molphei Tampak village and on checking his belongings, some suspicious plastic packets were found inside.

Moirang Police Station was informed immediately and on checking the plastic containers, six packets of opium were found.

The individual was arrested on the spot by the police team and the opium packets were also seized.

A regular FIR was registered against the individual under ND&PS Act for further investigation, the source added.
