Swachhata Diwas: AR conducts cleanliness drives

In observance of Gandhi Jayanti and under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Assam Rifles conducted multiple cleanliness drives across the State.
Assam Rifles conducted extensive cleanliness drives under the "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign across multiple districts in Manipur, including Imphal West, Thoubal, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Tengnoupal.
According to a press release issued by IGAR (S), the cleanliness drives encompassed villages such as Sadu Chiru, Joupi, and localities in Moreh and Tulimjang, witnessing participation from over 900 civilians, students and Assam Rifles personnel.
By actively participating in cleanliness drives, Assam Rifles honoured Mahatma Gandhi's enduring legacy, emphasizing that sustainable change begins with collective action towards a cleaner, healthier future, said the press note.
At Sadu Chiru village located in Kangpokpi district, Company Operating Base Chandrakhong, Lilong of Thoubal district, Singjamei and Mantripukhri, Imphal West district, the drive aimed to promote cleanliness and environmental sustainability, resonating with the ethos of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Approximately 100 civilians and Assam Rifles troops participated actively in the event.
In Moreh, Assam Rifles, together with the Moreh Youth Club (MYC), initiated extensive cleanliness drives in Chongjang and N Gangpijang villages on October 2 .
These efforts focused on improving waste management, raising awareness about personal and community hygiene and eliminating open defecation practices.
Over 100 participants, including troops and local residents, came together to clean public spaces and promote a cleaner environment.
In a separate drive on October 1, Assam Rifles organized the Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir in Govajang village and Home Guard Veng, Moreh, to educate villagers on the significance of hygiene and sanitation.
The event featured a lecture followed by a joint cleanliness drive, strengthening bonds between security forces and the local populace.
Simultaneously, in Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles spearheaded a Swachh Bharat Mission campaign in Tulimjang village and S Kholen, Hanglep subdivision, on October 2.Community members, students, and Assam Rifles personnel united to clean their surroundings, followed by an awareness session on sanitation and hygiene.
At Joupi in Chandel district, the drive involved the active participation of 478 Assam Rifles personnel, local civilians, and students, all coming together to promote the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
In addition to the cleanliness drive, a pledge ceremony was conducted where participants reaffirmed their commitment to Swachh Bharat campaign.
