Shija Pain and Palliative Clinic inaugurated

Dr Palin Khundongbam, Chairman cum Managing Director, Shija Hospital has presented a Pain and Palliative Clinic to the people on the auspicious day of Krishna Janmashtami today.
L Jayantakumar Singh, Minister Health and Family Welfare, N Bandana Devi, IAS, Mission Director State Health Society, Dr Thoudam Tomcha Singh, Senior Consultant Clinical and Radiation Oncologist, Dr Palin Khundongbam, Chairman cum Managing Director, Shija Hospital attended the event as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Dr Palin said that a Palliative Care was established at RIMS, eight years ago, but failed due to financial constraints and red tapism.
Palliative Care Society Imphal had volunteered the service since 2016.However, it was not formal, so he and his associates took the initiative and started a pilot project at Thangmeiband, Palin said and appreciated the State Health Society for its support and the formal inauguration today.
Mission Director, State Health Society N Bandana Devi emphasised the need for collaboration between the Government and private hospitals to provide treatments at affordable rates to the public.
Speaking at the event, L Jayantakumar Singh informed that the Government is in the process of setting up of a hospice (Palliative care unit) at Pangei.
The palliative care at Shija Hospital will provide registration at subsidised rate of Rs 50 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 10 am to 1 pm.
The normal rate on all other days is Rs 120, informed officials.
