Imphal, July 03 2013:
All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers' Union (AMRTDMWU) has sought clarification from Home Minister Gaikhangam regarding suspension of transporters' strike.
Addressing media persons at the office of AMRTDMWU at MG Avenue here today, General Secretary of the Union Hamom Kulachandra stated that the freight trucks of the Union have been operating regularly along NH-2 and NH-37 and so the announcement of Gaikhangam regarding the suspension of transporters' strike came as a shock to them.
They would refrain from holding steering if the Home Minister does not clarify on the matter within five days, he averred.
More than 300 oil tankers and other freight trucks have transported goods from other states with the help of CRPF escort personnel.
They have been working with heart and soul in the transportation of essential commodities to the State, Kulachandra asserted.
He further decried the act of Home Minister Gaikhangam who went ahead to talk with some persons in the guise of transporters and drivers.
