Junkie banished from locality

Imphal, June 03 2011: A drug addict who allegedly injected No.4 (heroin) on a psychiatric patient has been banished for six months from his locality.

The accused identified as Yumnam Sanatomba (37) of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, an alleged drug addict, injected Heroin with the help of a syringe on K Kesho, a psychiatric patient inside a local grocery shop this morning.

Sanatomba and Kesho are also said to be friends.

According to Subhash, the elder brother of Kesho, his younger brother has been admitted to RIMS after he was found unconscious from drug overdose.

Subhash said that being a psychiatric patient, Kesho does use some medication.

But he had never used heroin in his entire life.

On the other hand, Sanatomba is a drug addict who had undergone treatment under SASO, an NGO.

Today's incident reportedly came to light after Sanatomba told the family members of Kesho to take him to SASO if he does not come to his senses.

Taking serious note of the incident, a joint meeting of the local womenfolk decided to banish Sanatomba from the locality for six months and directed his family members to send him to a rehabilitation centre for treatment.
