The function was graced by Sumant Singh, Commissioner (IT), Manipur, Th Prameshwor Singh, Director, NIELIT, Imphal, and Kh Rajen Singh, State Informatics Officer, NIC, Manipur, as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, Sumant Singh underscored the importance of acquiring adequate knowledge and skills for handling portals and applications by Government agencies.
He said that every scheme and flagship programme have now been digitized throughout the country, following the launching of Digital India, which in turn greatly benefits the citizens in terms of ease of accessing the schemes implemented by the Government.
Moreover, the present trend of technology makes it easy to prepare any data or documents.
Old data or records are filed through apps and this will increase the longevity of the said items.
The transformation brought about delivery of technology and services to citizens and adoption of Information Technology is being celebrated as Digital India anniversary all over India today, he added.
Pointing out that the capacity of handling portals and applications among the Government agencies is poor compared to the common people, the Commissioner stated that whenever an application is introduced, Government officials need training but the common people learn the apps themselves in some way or the other.
He then stressed on the importance making apps user friendly when they are introduced or invented by app builders.
Rajen said that the gap between users and app builders will be solved only when users understand what has been developed by app builders.
App builders should also build the apps as user friendly as possible, he explained.
A panel discussion on Digital India achievement was held later in the latter part of the function.
