UNC, ANSAM, NWU hail Oct 31 step

Saying that the Indo-Naga peace process has seen a "breakthrough" to conclude the Indo-Naga peace talks, United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) and Naga Women Union (NWU) conveyed their "sincere" appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RN Ravi, Interlocutor of the Government of India on Indo-Naga peace talks, for the "bold decision taken again" .
According to the three organisations, the "breakthrough" was witnessed on October 31, 2019 in New Delhi.
In a joint statement issued to Newmai News Network tonight, UNC, ANSAM and NWU said, "We also extend our big applause to our chief negotiator, Mr Th Muivah and all the members of Collective Leadership for taking forward the more than 7 (seven) decades of Indo-Naga protracted political issue thus far" .
UNC, ANSAM and NWU then expressed their "heartfelt" gratitude to all tribes' civil societies, tribe hohos, Naga frontal and regional organisations, religious and Church leaders, political leaders, social activists and all individuals for their moral and prayers in making the breakthrough possible.
The three organisations then appealed all the communities in Manipur and beyond to "kindly" acknowledge and support the Indo-Naga peace talk.
They also "earnestly" appealed all peace loving people in Manipur to support and ensure durable peace in the region and the State in particular for, 'peace is universal' .
UNC, ANSAM and NWU also appealed all the Naga people in Imphal valley in particular to stay calm and not to feel "panicky because there are many right thinking civil society organisation leaders and individuals in the State who are responsible and matured enough to understand for the good of all communities" .
The three organisations then cautioned the public not to "rely and trust" any form of rumour spread on the social media and other "baseless" sources.
