Biswajit bats for better power infrastructure

Power Minister Th Biswajit held a meeting with Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh at Delhi yesterday and urged the latter to help meet the State's requirements in power sector.
Biswajit highlighted the growing need to upgrade the State's 33 KV power substations, construction of more sub-stations, stringing of more transmission lines to cater to the increased population, replacement of old transmission lines.
He then urged RK Singh to provide necessary fund to carry out all these works as grants.
He also urged the Union Minister to help the State Government replace worn out power infrastructure, instal low tension smart prepaid meters, and set up a solar power plant of 5 MW capacity.
Responding to the appeals and proposals of Biswajit, RK Singh appreciated the State Government's advancement in power sector.
He also assured that he would make all efforts to translate all the proposals of the State Government into action.
Pointing out that Manipur has abundant hydropower potential, RK Singh suggested Biswajit to take up mini hydropower projects in the State and further assured that the Ministry would extend all possible help to the State Government in setting up mini hydropower projects.
