Arms, ammos recovered

A number of arms, ammunition and explosive items were recovered by a combined team of Manipur Police and Assam Rifles from Moreh today.
Acting on inputs about movement of some suspected persons and concealment of warlike stores in Moreh Ward No 9 area, a combined team of Moreh police and troops of 5 Assam Rifles and 25 Assam Rifles rushed to the spot from two different directions.
The combined team immediately cordoned off the area and carried out an extensive search operation but no suspicious movement could be observed, sources informed.
During the search operation, a sack was found hidden behind a water tank on the roof of an abandoned building, near Elora Hotel.
On opening the sack, the combined security team found one .38 pistol along with a magazine, 10 improvised explosive devices (IED), three hand grenades, 85 live rounds of carbine machine gun, 10 live rounds of AK assault rifle and two live rounds of .38 pistol.
The team seized the recovered items and a case was registered at Moreh police station in connection with recovery, said the sources.
