Manipuri language day observed in Tripura

Tripura MLA Ramendra Narayan Debbarma said that Manipuri writers of Tripura have put more efforts to promote Manipuri than the writers of Kokborok, the second lingua franca of Tripura, do.
Although Manipuri population in Tripura is sparse, their writers did commendable job in promoting their language, he said.
Ramendra was speaking as the chief guest of the 24th Manipuri language day organised by Patriotic Writers' Forum, Tripura yesterday at Lalshingmura community hall.
The MLA further said that speakers of a language should promote their own language.
Presentation of folk dance, folk song, pung cholom and Manipuri patriotic poems recitation marked the celebration programme, according to a statement.
