SBI donates fans to Ukhrul school

Ukhrul, August 31 2011:
Aimed at providing a pleasant condition for the students to concentrate on their studies State Bank of India (SBI) Ukhrul branch donated nine ceiling fans to Ukhrul Model High School UMHS here, yesterday.
SBI, Ukhrul branch, yet to complete a year of its existence in the district made a history of sort as no institution, be it privately run or Government-run, have such a facility till date, despite climatic condition in in this scenic hill station changing noticeably in the past few years.
Thus, the SBI for the first of its kind in the district headquarters donated nine ceiling fans to UMHS making it the first school with fans amongst the schools in Ukhrul town.
During the brief but symbolic function at UMHS Alungtang, SBI branch Manager Tiken singh said the programme was initiated under the "Community Service Banking" project aimed at addressing inconveniences faced by infrastructure-starved educational institutions.
Tiken further said that UMHS was selected from amongst many schools of the district for this benefit based on report given by all the headmasters and principals during the course of an evaluation and monitoring process.
UMHS Principal Nabin Chiphang, while talking with, The sangai Express said that it was indeed encouraging for the student community to avail such opportunity and conveyed his gratitude to the SBI officials for their earnest effort to develop school infrastructure.
