Ramp up fight against COVID-19 on a war footing, says MSC/CPI

The Government should take up measures to fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic on a war footing note amid the surge in Covid positive cases and fatalities in the State.
An emergency meeting of all political parties should be convened at the earliest to discuss the issue, said L Sotinkumar, secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council during a press meet held at Irabot Bhawan today.
Expressing concern over the exorbitant charges at the private hospitals across the State, he said that these hospitals are running businesses in the name of treatments and are sucking the blood of the public.
He further stated that many beneficiaries are deprived of their normal share of rice under NFSA in several Assembly Constituencies in the State therefore requested the Government to look into the matter at the earliest in the interest of the general public.
L Sotinkumar also said that the Party has been extending all possible help in the fight against COVID-19 and is conducting awareness campaigns on Covid testing and vaccination programmes etc.
He appealed to all concerned to stop adorning the tag of social workers to gain political benefits amid this difficult time of the pandemic in the name of helping the people.
He also extended gratitude to all employees with meagre incomes like VDF personnel and nurses for donating in the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and urged the Government to acknowledge the contribution of ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, Mid Day meal workers and drivers during this pandemic.
He also sought the attention of the Government to work out special measures to aid the farmers and to release the pending honorariums for mid day meal workers and wages of job card holders to ease their burden amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Lastly he appealed to all the MLAs and MPs to use the local area development fund in the fight against COVID-19 in the interest of the people.
