Process on for release of MGNREGS fund: Khemchand

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD & PR) minister Y Khemchand has said that file process for release of Rs 756.49 crore MGNREGS wage component has begun and other funds will be released soon.
The minister informed this in the State Assembly while responding to the Policy Cut Motions raised by Opposition members when Demand for Grants of RD & PR department was moved for passing on the 6th day of Assembly on Saturday.
Y Khemchand said that the file movement for release of Rs 756.49 crore MGNREGS wage component has begun while first instalment for tied grant amounting Rs 15.46 crore and Rs 10.17 crore untied grant (first instalment) too will be released soon.
On the allegation about disproportionate distribution of fund for Zilla Parishad members in Thoubal district, the minister clarified that Rs 25 lakh each was released for three ZP members but there might be some inconveniences in distribution of fund.
Raising the Policy Cut motion, Congress MLA K Meghachandra said that the Centre released Rs 756.49 crore MGNREGS wage component but the state government is yet to release the fund.
He then demanded to know if the fund has been diverted and when to release the same.
He also asked whereabouts of the tied grant first instalment released under the 15th finance commission on August 27, 2021 which fails to reach the local bodies till date.
