Imphal, July 30 2015:
The State Government has been working hard to re-open all the educational institutions of Imphal and greater Imphal areas which were closed in the backdrop of the intense movement for enforcement of ILPS or a similar mechanism in Manipur, stated Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Speaking to some media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, Ibobi stated that religious places, hospitals and educational institutions were usually kept unharmed even at the time of full scale wars.
He then appealed to all guardians and social organisations not to disturb educational institutions under any circumstances.
The Government has been working hard to re-open all schools and colleges as soon as possible.
On being enquired about the progress of drafting a new Bill, Ibobi maintained that the Government intends to table and pass the Bill tomorrow itself.
Instead of raising objections after the Bill is tabled, it would be far more constructive if the Bill is drafted in consultation with all stake holders in such a way that it does not contravene the Constitution of India and at the same time it can effectively safeguard the common interests of indigenous people.
The Government has a reservation whether a Bill passed by the State Assembly gets entangled at the Raj Bhavan.
As such, there is a need to be meticulous in every aspect while drafting the Bill.
All public issues/problems can be resolved only through dialogue, Ibobi asserted.
If the JCILPS is willing to hold dialogue with the Government on the new Bill, a new invitation can be sent to them, he added.
