Essence of identity and unity resonates at TSA diamond jubilee

Thadou Students' Association celebrated its diamond jubilee today at Taloulong village in Kangpokpi District, significantly echoing the essence of identity and unity call .
The Diamond Jubilee of the Thadou Students' Association was organized under the theme "Unrelenting Resurgence".
Chairman, Hill Areas Committee, T Thangzalam Haokip graced the occasion as the chief guest and Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen attended as the president while chairman, Manipur Tribal Development Corporation, Vungzagin Valte and K Lhouvum, IDES, attended as guest of Honour and the special guest respectively .
T Thangzalam Haokip unfurled the TSA flag and unveiled the student body diamond jubilee monolith installed at TSA complex to commemorate the diamond Jubilee celebration in the presence of the Social Welfare Minister and the MTDC chairman while Reverend Lunlal Kipgen, TBA-India dedicated the monolith .
All the dignitaries and leaders of TSA beat the traditional Gong 60 times to mark the anniversary during the commemoration function while thousands of Thadou tribe who attended the diamond Jubilee paid their tributes to the former and current TSA leaders during the commemoration .
An imposing souvenir published by the TSA was also released by Vungzagin Valte, Chairman, Manipur Tribal Development Corporation.
Speaking on the occasion, T Thangzalam Haokip appreciated the relentless efforts of Thadou Students' Association and urged the student body to march forward with their determined efforts for education and unity of the Thadou tribe .
He also said that education should be pursued with a vision to help the people in various fields so that they may become assets for the people and not liability .
The Hill Areas Committee Chairman also encouraged the student body to motivate students not only in education sector but also to encourage them in the field of sports .
Minister Nemcha Kipgen underlined the essence of identity and called for unity among the Thadou tribe and appreciated Thadou Students' Association for spearheading the inclusive development of the Thadou community .
The Minister also said that Thadou tribe, which was official recognized in 1956, played a significant role in India's freedom struggle and in contributing to the protection and development of the State as well while urging to promote brotherhood, peace and harmony and work collectively for the State and the nation.
Vungzagin Valte emphasized on the necessity of unity, work culture and sense of belongingness while citing the exemplary living standard of Japanese, who are a well-known nation owing to their sense of work culture, unity and belongingness .
Michael Lamjathang Haokip, General Secretary of TSA-GHQ, and the Editor of TSA diamond jubilee souvenir, said that formation of Thadou Students' Association was first mooted by a group of Thadou student in Kolkata in the year 1957 in the presence of Chungkhokai Doungel, retired IRS and former Minister, (L) Henkholen Sitlhou, Kaikhokam Kipgen, retired IAS, et al who are the real architect of TSA .
He continued that following the recognition of Thadou and other cognate Kuki tribe by the Central Government in 1956, Thadou students outside Manipur had entrusted Thadou students of DM College, Imphal to establish a student organization for Thadou students and subsequently Thadou Students' Association was formally launched at Motbung village, Sadar Hills on October 29, 1957 in the presence of student community from within Manipur and outside .
He also said that Vomboi H Hangshing, retired IAS and Seikholam Sitlhou played a vital role in mobilizing the Thadou student's community for the formation of TSA.
