Imphal, October 29 2016:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today opened a two-day art exhibition at Hotel Imphal.
Pottery items, textiles, ornaments, paintings, still photographs, sculptures and murals are showcased at the exhibition which is being organised by the Hao Heritage Foundation and RUGSA.
Apart from Chief Minister O Ibobi, Parliamentary Secretary (TA/Hills) Victor Keishing, Law and Legislative Affairs Minister I Hemochandra and Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam were also present at the inaugural function.
Speaking at the occasion, Victor Keishing said that the Manipur valley is quite advanced in the field of art but it is still at the experimental stage in the hill areas.
Nonetheless, such an exhibition would go a long way in educating younger generations about the indigenous cultures and traditions of the land.
I Hemochandra said that all the indigenous people of Manipur share a common genealogy.
