Imphal, September 29 2011:
The Chil Chil Asian Mission Society and the Makhan Area Union, Manipur in Saitu-Gamphazol sub-division, Senapati district have strongly condemned the reported firing of four rounds of gunshots to students of Chil Chil Theological Seminary (CCTS) by suspected Kuki militants when the students were working in their own farm at Ngsakamai (Leikhampokpi) village at about 1.15 pm of September 24 .
Separate press releases issued by the Chil Chil Asian Mission Society and the Liangmai Naga Council alleged that the Kuki militants shouted like, "This is not your land, go away from this field" .
Though no one was injured in the attack, the Chil Chil Asian Mission Society reminded that the seminary is for students belonging to different communities.
Saying that the CCTS is not a political or communal institution, the society appealed to all concerned to sort out all differences amicably without resorting to violence.
The Makhan Area Union has appealed to the Government of Manipur to look into the matter and book the culprits at the earliest before the situation snowballs into a major issue.
